Keke Rosberg has slammed fellow former F1 world champion Sir Jackie Stewart for advising current title-holder Michael Schumacher to quit the racing game.
'I've read that Jackie thinks [Michael] should retire,' said Rosberg, the 1982 grand prix winning Finn, whose son Nico tested a BMW-Williams last week.
He said: 'Well, Jackie is always opening his big mouth when it's not wanted - and you can print that.'
Stewart, champion of 1969, 1971 and 1973 in Ken Tyrrell's F1 racers, said earlier that there's 'more to do' with your life than 'driving fast cars.'
'Retiring was the best thing I've ever done,' he insisted.
Jackie advised six-times and reigning F1 superstar Schumacher, 34, to quit while he's ahead because 'he's been there, done that,' as far as F1 is concerned.
'In order to beat the young lions in my time, I had to push the limit almost to breaking point,' said the Scot.
'Michael may be facing the same challenge.'
Keke Rosberg, meanwhile, says it's positive 'for any sport' to have megastars.
He concluded: 'I don't think anyone, including past world champions like Jackie, are qualified or should advise other drivers about when to retire.'
