Suomalaisille niin tuttu BelCar-sarja muuttuu tulevalle kaudelle. Eli tehokkaat (kalliit) GT1/2-autot heivataan sivuun ja tilalle otetaan halvempaa kalustoa FIA:n GT3/4 luokitusten mukaan. Sarjaa vetävä organisaatio toki kutsuu mukaan ulkopuolisiakin, mutta niitä sitten "viilataan" nopeuden osalta.

The Paddock Belcar 2007 Season Preview

Division 1: “Belcar Group GT3”: the top class of the championship will consist of FIA GT3 and national GT3 cars. In 2007, a number of non-homologated cars, like the G&A Mosler MT 900, will be invited by the organisation, after being subjected to balance-of-performance tests to ensure their not faster than the official GT3 cars. The-Paddock.net will bring you up to speed on all teams, drivers and cars following the official Belcar Shakedown on March 22th, but we can already give away that top brands like Corvette, Aston Martin, Dodge and Porsche sign present. Division 1 cars will be numbered from 1 till 99.


Division 2: “Belcar Promotion”: accommodates the Cup-cars, like the Porsche 996 Cup, and the brand new FIA GT4 cars. Various teams are working on some very promising projects, like the Porsche Cayman or the Ford Mustang, and hope to join the Belcar field later on in the season. Division 2 cars will be numbered from 101 till 199.

Division 3: “Belcar Specials”: GT cars that participated in the Belcar Original 2004-2006, and the Belgian Touring Car Series 2003-2006, on invitation. Porsche Bi-turbo’s will be allowed in this class until the end of the 2008 season. A norm time and matching penalty system will be imposed on this class to ensure the cars won’t be faster than the GT3 cars. Division 3 cars will be numbered from 201 till 299.

"While two Porsche old hands can be found in the first Lechner team, two rookies are forming the second team: The 19-year-old Slovak Stefan Rosina and the Finn Miakel Forsten are going for their first Porsche Supercup season. Rosina was discovered by Walter Lechner during a test drive in Hungary in the autumn. Although he was driving a cup Porsche for the first time, he immediately could convince with quick times there. The situation about Miakel Forsten is similar: He also secured his cockpit with promising lap times during the test. The deal with the Finn was arranged Steve Robertsen, who is the manager of Ferrari Star Kimi Räikönnen."

He belongs to the best jumping riders in Europe and now the 37-year-old also wants to take it up with 400 horsepower’s in the fastest brands cup of Europe, the Porsche Mobil1 super cup. Motorsports is not a new ground for the Finn, but the second great passion beside the equestrian. Driving a Porsche GT3 he appears in the GTP series in 2004, then changes to the Ferrari Challenge and in 2006 competed in the Formula Renault.

In the team of Walter Lechner, the Finn wants to gain a foothold in the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup now. „Mikael Forsten has been recommended by the manager of the Ferrari pilot Kimi Räikönnen and could convince during testing", team manager Walter Lechner says. The 37-year-old will be at the start as a team colleague of Stefan Rosina.

Le Mans Sarjan avauskilpailu Monzan 1000km huomenna kahdelta.
Pösöt ottivat eturivin lähtöpaikat selvällä erolla muihin. Tiimi oli kuitenkin pehmeillä renkailla matkassa, eikä se odota autojen kestävän koko kisaa ilman ongelmia. Lähtöviivalla on 11 isoa protoa 10 pientä ja 26 GT autoa, joista seitsemän GT1 luokassa.

Koppiautot eivät saisi olla näin pahasti formuloiden varjossa. Seatit eivät ole mitään nuhapumppuja, kuskit ovat Christina Surer mukaan lukien kovia luita.

Nürburgring 24h ajetaan tänä viikonloppuna. Radio Le Mans tarjoaa englannin kielisen radio selosteksen ja tv kuvan saa näkyviin saksan kielisellä selostuksella AMuS:n sivuilta. Kilpailun viralliset sivut ovat tällä hetkellä aivan tukossa.
Kisan olisi pitänyt alkaa neljältä, mutta alueen yli liikkuva ukkosmyrsky on viivästyttänyt starttia. Aika-ajoissa parasta vauhtia pitivät Porsche RSRt, Zakspeed Viper, GT3 Aston Martin ja Alzenien Cayman. Mukana kisassa on yli 200 autoa mukaan lukien diesel bemareita ja volkkareita, sekä jopa yksi vanha Mini.
