Samsung 244T suddenly lost picture.
Same problem on both DVI-D and VGA -cables.
Same problem on 2 different computers (desktop and mini laptop).
When I switch the power off and back on, the picture can be seen, but it flickers, until the picture turns black again.
I found a setting in the menu, where you can select between:
- Entertainment
- Internet
- Text
- Custom
When I change the setting from Custom into Internet or Text, the flickering disappears, and the picture becomes stable again. The flickering is there always when Entertainment or Custom are used. Sadly, even with Internet and Text, the picture stays stable for a limited time only and then the picture turns black again.
I moved the monitor from it's original location, while testing it. And now in more silent surroundings, I can hear the sound that it produces. Just 2 frequencies, higher and lower, each lasting 1 second, repeating endlessly.
If I press the menu button when there's no cable connected, it shows "test good" while flickering.and it doesn't give me the menu. While pressing the buttons, the tone isn't heard. When the screen turns black again, the tone starts again.
I changed the setting back to custom and set the brightness and contrast to 0 and there's no flickering now. But the screen still turns black in about 30 seconds (even as I write this, the external screen turned black).
What could be the reason behind such a problem?
How much does it cost to fix, since this has been bought for over 4 years ago and the guarantee was only 3 years.
