Tuli asennettua ennen vuodenvaihdetta ilmainen Kindle-ohjelma myös iPhoneen. Vaikka olin aluksi hieman skeptinen niin varsin käyttökelpoinen sovellus on kyseessä. Lukeminen on vaivatonta ja mahdollista myös silloin kun Kindle ei satu olemaan mukana. Myöhään yöllä iPhone-Kindle on tarjonnut mahdollisuuden myös kumppanin huomioivaan lukemiseen ilman lukuvaloa.

In an acknowledgment of the growing sales and influence of digital publishing, The New York Times said on Wednesday that it would publish e-book best-seller lists in fiction and nonfiction beginning early next year.
E-book sales have risen steeply in 2010, spurred by the growing popularity of the Amazon Kindle and by the release of the Apple iPad in April. According to the Association of American Publishers, which receives sales data from publishers, e-book sales in the first nine months of 2010 were $304.6 million, up from $105.6 million from the same period in 2009, a nearly 190 percent increase.
Several major publishers said that e-books had climbed to about 10 percent of their total trade sales. Some publishing experts have predicted that they will rise to 25 percent in the next two to three years.

Wilson Biodiversity Foundation has gathered together a contributor team consisting of educators, multimedia artists, 3D animators trained in science and cinema, and textbook professionals, led by naturalist Edward O. Wilson. Our goal is to create a cultural landmark—a portal that will introduce students to the grandest story there is, the story of life on Earth, from molecules to ecosystems, from the origin of life to the modern awareness that we control the environment we live in. E.O. Wilson’s Life on Earth is a new digital textbook for high school biology students.
Forty-one chapters in nine sections will provide a complete, original, standards-based curriculum to give high school students a deep understanding of all of the central topics of introductory biology.
