gpupdate.net sanoi:Damon Hill’s son quits racing
10 July 2013
Josh Hill, son of 1996 F1 world champion, Damon, and grandson of 1962 and 1968 F1 world champion, Graham, has called time on his motor racing career.
The 22-year-old had been racing in the European Formula 3 Championship this year with Fortec Motorsports.
“Coming from the Hill family it was inevitable that I would be drawn to racing. I have learned an enormous amount and really enjoyed the experience, but I do not want to compete unless I am 100 percent devoted,” he explained in a statement to the media.
“As I now have ambitions in other fields I feel it is the right move to withdraw from racing.”
Damon added: “Being born into a racing dynasty is not something many of us can easily relate to. It is entirely understandable if Josh has to find out if racing is his main calling or not.
“So it is with some sadness that we make this announcement. I'm sure there will be many disappointed ‘Hill' fans out there but we hope they will be understanding. It is sometimes braver to stop than to carry on.
“He has my total support as always.”
Meanwhile, speaking via Twitter, Josh reiterated that he has other ambitions: “Thanks for all the support you've given me, it means the world. But I feel like my future lies elsewhere. Thanks, I am eternally grateful.
“And of course @ScottMalvern has been with me every step of the way thru thick and thin. Cheers brudda.....”
Josh’s best result this season was a second place finish at Hockenheim. He began racing in 2008 in the Ginetta Junior Series. He then progressed to Formula Ford before moving to the British Formula Renault Championship and Formula Renault 2.0 NEC in 2011 and 2012 respectively.
