I screen capped the telesport footage of the entry to the bend. Removed the spectators car and two spectator's and added in Henri and Sergio to image how it may look if Henri was cutting the inside of the corner to much on entry.

When the car landed on its roof as it came to a rest. The impact will have buckled and collapsed the roll cage and it likely distorted further in the inferno that followed. Note. The man on the left wearing Martini Racing clothes taking photo's of the remains of the car? What happened to these...

I think back in 86 it was just seen as a rally accident. Ideally the French police would have taped off the scene and taken measurements and photographs of everything before they allowed the remains of the car to be removed and seized all camera's.

I retook this photo, this time using google lenses. Its only a small improvement.

"Sergio - - - I took Miki's car" There's is a mark on the tarmac on the inside of the bend. Like it has been thrown up from the edge of the road? possible by Henri cutting the corner and what looks to be a tyre mark on the other side.

Thats them. I think most would agree. The accident is highly likely to have been caused by something breaking on the car than, rather than driver error. Then again maybe Henri clipped a rock on the inside of a bend going into the corner and this caused the suspension to break?

The photo's of the parts taken from the S4 by a spectator were posted on Facebook a couple of years ago or perhaps they were photo's from the book that the author had taken. I don't remember.

Its interesting to hear his thoughts given the FIA never released the findings of their investigation to the public.

I have dubbed a French interview with Gabriel Cadringher who was the technical director of the FIA into English. It was recorded the day after Henri's accident. Also in Finnish :)

Fabrizio Tabaton was with the the Lancia Team in Corsica and had done some tests with the S4 their with them. Perhaps he as checking the stages for them too.
