Senna sanoo että viisi sekuntia pitäisi saada helpostikin ajasta pois.
http://tazio.uol.com.br/f-1/textos/16939/Hispania's story of overcoming the odds got a new chapter this Friday in Bahrain. The team, which hadn't even done a shakedown before sending all their equipment to the opening stage of the 2010 championship, managed to complete over 20 laps and the car driven by Bruno Senna didn't present any serious problems.
Happy for his debut, the brazilian highlighted that the spanish team only limited themselves to make the car running in today's tests, and that things like performance and setup will only be analysed Saturday.
Senna, who did the last time over 11s behind Nico Rosberg, the session's top runner, believes it is still possible to get 5 extra seconds during this weekend.
Check out the main bits of the interview with the driver:
Perceptions after the debut
"We had a very satisfactory start considering the conditions we had. The car had no fatal issue, no very serious problem that wouldn't allow us to stick to our plan... We managed to achieve most of the plan we had in terms of laps. We couldn't start with the setup work, because the time between the practice sessions was too short, we had to do some other more important things to ensure the car would run during practice. We worked well in a way, we managed to achieve good results, but on the other way we need to focus on performance."
Problems in Karun Chandhok's car
"It was a lot, lot of work to make the car ready now. Unfortunately Karun's car didn't have the same luck, because he had some problems which didn't happen in my car. It was a loss for us, in terms of getting info about the car, but I hope that tomorrow it'll be fixed."
Hispania's evolution margin
"I imagine that [improving] 5s shouldn't be too difficult to achieve, because we're with a setup that hasn't been worked at all, the car isn't working right with the tyres, aerodynamically the car isn't right yet, we have a few problems with throttle response, the engine isn't working on full power neither... All of these things make a big difference. I imagine that tomorrow we'll have a much better performance and that maybe we'll start getting less in the way on track [laughs]."
The possibility to stay out of the GP
"The risk exists. The team still doesn't have, in terms of structure, spare parts for the case something very big breaks, so the risk is there, but I believe we'll be in the race and it'll be a big test of fire for the car. Here it's very hot. It'll be a big success if we can finish the race."
Adaptation
"It hasn't been very easy. I've not only have to learn my car as I also have to learn the new part of the track, which isn't easy and it's difficult to see [I think he's referring to the corners being blind??], so my eye is looking into too many places at the same time. But my engineer is trying his best to talk to me when a car approaches, and sometimes we end up getting in the way of others, but I think tomorrow, as our laptime improves, we'll have less of this kind of problem."
"It was all very positive. I think everyone here recognises that it is a great achievement for the team to arrive here in these conditions and run here, without the car having any serious issue... We had a lot of success today. The car is running, and the great victory of the weekend for us, would be to finish the race, but there's a lot to go before that happens."
The car's reactions
"The car seems in order, it doesn't have any strange behaviour, it's a nice car to drive without a setup, so with a setup we'll be able to get more performance out of it. But a lot of electronic things need to be fixed, as well as some mechanical problems. But there's nothing abnormal."
