Once in his Sauber times Kimi was driving away from the Imola track when he spotted dirt on the road at one corner. Kimi stopped the car, looked around and saw far away a wrecked car whose driver seemed to be unconscious. Räikkönen pulled photographer John Townsend out of the car and probably saved his life.
Later John Townsend told what had happened:
"Kimi had seen me and pulled me out of the car. After that he had looked that I was breathing. He had braced my neck and used a cell phone to alert help. I owe Kimi a great deal, he saved my life."
