Lauantaina olisikin sitten kauden päätöskilpailu edessä. Onko samalla myös JJ:n viimeinen kilpailu prototyypeissä?

Laguna Secassa kilpaillaan, 4h kilpailu. Erikoisuutena lähdö päivänvalossa illalla ja ruutulipun heilahtaessa pitäisi olla jo hämärää.

American Le Mans Series champions Ron Fellows and JJ Lehto are the leading candidates so far as fan voting for the coveted Most Popular Driver Award enters its final week.

Eli JJ on fanien keskuudessa varsin suosittu, toisena "loppusuoralla" on Corvettea ohjaava Fellows.

The Audi Sports Car Championships, a timed event of four hours, will start at 4 p.m. (Pacific) on Saturday and run until 8 p.m. At least 90 minutes of the event will be run in total darkness, with drivers competing at speeds of more than 180 mph with only the light from headlights and tail lights to guide them around the 2.238-mile road racing circuit.

JJ luonnollisesti pitää pimeydestä..

"Racing around Laguna Seca in darkness on Saturday night will be awesome," said JJ Lehto, driver of the ADT Champion Racing Audi R8 and the driver with the most overall race wins in ALMS history.

"The surrounding countryside looked beautiful this evening during practice," Lehto said. "The sunset spectacularly lit up the hills before dusk and then into full darkness which is what we'll get in the closing stages of the race. Darkness will add more excitement for the race fans - and the drivers for that matter - and I'm certain it will make for an interesting spectacle."

Aika-ajoissa koettiin pieni yllätys, kun paalulta ei lähde Audi tai Dyson Lola. DBA-Zytek otti paalun, JJ Lehto toiseen ruutuun jääden paalusta 0,2sek.

GTS:ssä tuttuun tapaan Corvette paalulla ja toisena. Paalu on Olivier Berettan 14. ja sillä hän jakaa sarjan ennätyksen toisen Corvette-kuskin Ron Fellowsin kanssa.

Zytek onnistuikin kisassa härnäämään Lehtoa aika kauan, eikä JJ meinannut millään päästä ohitse. Onneksi ohitse pääsi hieman ennen ekoja varikkokäyntejä. Zytek sit alko hajoilemaan kisan puolessa välissä.

Ilmeisesti JJ sitten ois jatkamassa Audin ratissa, sellasta juttua tossa nettiradiossa selostajat sanoivat. Herbert lähtis takaisin rapakon taakse, Werner ja Lehto jatkaisivat toisessa autossa. Muista kuskeista ei vielä ollut mitään huhujakaan.

ALMS MILESTONES FROM 2004 LAGUNA SECA FINALE

Eli ALMS tilastoja kauden päättäneen Laguna Secan kisan jälkeen.. JJ monessa sarjassa hyvin kärkikahinoissa..

Johnny O'Connell maintained All-Time leadership in ALMS starts as he now has 53; David Brabham is second with 49. Ron Fellows and JJ Lehto are tied for third ranking at 48.

Sascha Maassen continues to lead in All-Time ALMS Victories with 22 but Ron Fellows and Johnny O'Connell are now in the runner-up spot at 21 apiece. JJ Lehto has 20 victories.

Lehto remains the all-time ALMS Top Three Finishes leader, now with 41 over Fellows at 39.

Lehto and O'Connell continue to lead in All-Time ALMS Top Five Finishes, now with 46 apiece. Fellows is next up at 44.

O'Connell continues as the All-Time ALMS Top 10 Finishes leader, now with 51 over the 48 apiece of Fellows and Lehto.

The Audi R8 remains the all-time leader in ALMS Racecar Wins, now with 40 wins; the Corvette C5-R now has 31 wins.

Lehto remains the all-time leader in ALMS LMP1 wins at 16 over Frank Biela's 15. Lehto is the all-time ALMS Overall Race Wins leader with 16 over 14 apiece for Biela and Rinaldo Capello.

ALMS' network television ratings were 25% higher than IRL's network ratings (excluding the Indy 500). The Grand Am and Champ Car series have no events on network television. Cable ratings for ALMS were 50% higher than IRL's and Champ Car's cable ratings and 300% higher than Grand Am's telecasts.

Vähän yllätti nuo luvut, kuvittelin että Champ Car ois ALMS:n edellä.

Ja Champion Racing julkistanee kuskit jossain autonäyttelyssä lähiaikoina (North American Car Show?) ja sen jälkeen tiedetään ainakin JJ:n tulevaisuudesta.
