Richard Burns is no longer in hospital and doctors believe that they are making real progress in treating his brain tumour.
Burns has completed a lengthy course of radiotherapy to combat an astrocytoma, the tumour that caused him to black out days before last November’s Rally GB and prevented him from taking up a drive with Subaru this year. However, while he left hospital at the end of May, the 33-year-old former World Champion is continuing to receive chemotherapy.
“The treatment’s still continuing. I think the feeling of the people close to him at the moment is that we are making progress, but that we’ve got still a fair way to go,” Burns’s co-driver Robert Reid said.
