MAX CALLS FOR ENGINE RULES FREEZE

FIA president Max Mosley has stepped up his campaign for a drastic reduction in the costs of competing in Formula 1 by proposing a three-year freeze in engine design from 2008 to 2010.
Speaking at his pre-season address in London yesterday, Mosley said restricting engine development is essential if budgets are to be brought down to levels that are affordable for independent teams.
“The manufacturers have collectively spent over $1 billion on engine development programmes,” he said.
“The problem with them is that if you permit them free rein you get into a money-spending competition which raises the danger of putting a lot of smaller teams out of business.”
Mosley claimed that an engine rules freeze would save up to one billion euros per year on engine development without detracting from spectator interest.
“I have a real determination to see this through,” he added.
“If F1 is to prosper we have got to get the costs down so the independent teams survive.
“The GPMA and the manufacturers have been complaining about not getting enough money back from the sport, but they are spending between them one billion euros per year.
“It would be better to cut that than try and get more back from Bernie Ecclestone.”
Mosley also suggested that F1 should adopt a fuel-efficient formula from 2011, either stipulating a fixed fuel load for a race distance or introducing a fuel-flow system that reduces consumption.
And he added that the FIA is considering introducing a system of promotion and relegation for F1's best and worst performers.

No mut loppus iän ikuinen valitus, kuinka rahaa käytetään testaamiseen plää plää plää jne... :thumbfh:
Vai onko tarkoitus vaan säästää rahaa, jotta jokainen halukas voi ottaa osaa F1 kisoihin.
Itse olen sitä mieltä, että minulla jos ei ole varaa kilpailla F1 luokassa, harrastan jossain missä minulla on.
Sama pätee muuhun arki elämään, jos ei rahaa ole tarpeeksi, en voi sitten hankkia mihin varaa ei ole... Sitähän tämä elämä on vaikka kuinka muuta välillä toivoisi. :ahem:
