Briton Ralph Firman was ruled out the Italian Grand Prix after failing a medical here Thursday, but German Ralf Schumacher was given the all-clear to race.
Jordan driver Firman, who has not returned to the cockpit since his accident in the Hungarian Grand Prix three weeks ago, has an inner ear problem discovered in an examination with Professor Sid Watkins.
Team boss Eddie Jordan said he had not decided who will replace Firman this weekend. Hungarian Zsolt Baumgartner deputised in his home race after previously testing with the team.
Meanwhile, a Williams-BMW team spokesperson said that Schumacher had been given permission to race after shaking off the injuries suffered in a crash in testing at Monza last week.

STRUGGLING Jordan Ford are set to lose sponsor Damovo at the end of this season following the departure of the telecommunications company's Chief Executive.Damovo is in negotiations with Jordan to withdraw from their three-year contract at the end of this season. The deal was brokered by Damovo's old Chief Executive.A final decision on the relationship has yet to be made but reports suggest that if Damovo cannot end the contract this year then it will settle to withdraw its involvement to just hospitaly.Potentially losing a sponsor could not have come at a worse time for Eddie Jordan whose team has contested the 2003 championship without a title sponsor. The team's image has also suffered as a result of a failed lawsuit against Vodafone which certainly has a negative effect upon attracting new sponsors in an already tough market.Jordan is also currently looking for a way out of its expensive engine supply deal with Ford - a supply offer from Mercedes is on the table at around $11million, in contrast to the $18million Jordan has reportedly paid for Ford engines this year.
