Senna leaves Formula 1 for WEC seat
5 February 2013
Bruno Senna has announced that he will contest the 2013 World Endurance Championship for Aston Martin, with the Brazilian calling an end to his bid for one of the remaining Formula 1 seats. The 29-year-old had been in talks with a number of teams over the winter, including Force India, before deciding to switch categories.
Senna will share an Aston Martin Vantage GTE with Frederic Makowiecki in the GTE Pro class this year, taking part in the full eight-round championship. For the Spa 6 Hours and flagship 24 Hours of Le Mans events, the pair will be joined by Rob Bell.
Senna is set to make his debut for the British marque at the 12 Hours of Sebring next month, which goes ahead on Saturday 16 March. The ex-Williams, Renault and HRT driver contested selected rounds of the 2009 Le Mans series for Oreca, including the prestigious Le Mans round, picking up podium finishes in Spain and Portugal.
