Cosworth Racing celebrates its 45th year at the top of the world motorsport stage in 2003. During that time, Cosworth has established itself as the most successful engine manufacturer in Formula One as well as achieving numerous successes in CART, Indycars and the World Rally Championship.
Cosworth Racing moved to its current Northampton base in 1964, with a staff of approximately 40 people. Nowadays, its staff number more than 600, making it the second largest employer in Northampton. It occupies a site consisting of 11 separate factories which house some of the most technologically advanced design, manufacture and test equipment in motorsport.
Such has been Cosworth’s contribution to motorsport that it was the recipient of the coveted Motorsport Industry Association (MIA) Business of the Year award for 2003. Cosworth is and always has been a recognised centre of excellence for automotive engineering in the UK and has close ties with the local communities as well as colleges and universities and its graduate programme is highly regarded within the industry.
